Rehearsing What You WantBy
There’s a technique I’ve come across in many places, most recently in a wonderful book from 1960 called Psycho-Cybernetics by Maxwell Maltz.
In the book, the author goes into detail about how to use the, “theater of the mind,” to create the changes you want in your life.
It has to do with creating a new self-image so that the qualities and characteristics you wish you had – the ones that can help you succeed – are nurtured and developed within you.
That is very similar to what so many people talk about with visualization in everything from sports to the kitchen of your dreams. There is a whole slew of scientific information to support the process too – from studies with athletes to quantum physics where it has been proven that the tiniest particles we know exist ‘pop’ in and out of ‘reality’ because they are observed.
So, what are you planning and rehearsing? Are you spending all your time worrying and thinking about what could go wrong, or are you confidently creating images and movies in your mind that show you doing the things you want, being who you want to be in the world and having the life of your dreams?
